Keeping Our Community Safe, Healthy, and Connected
The Safety & Wellness Syndicate focuses on creating a secure and supportive environment for everyone in the neighborhood. We address public safety concerns, promote wellness initiatives, and foster collaboration among residents and local organizations to strengthen our community’s well-being.

Independence Plaza is a Northeast neighborhood rich in historical significance to the Kansas City metropolitan area. Our boundaries are Independence Avenue on the north, Benton Boulevard on the east, I-70 on the South, Brooklyn (south of 9th Street), and Paseo (north of 9th Street) on the west. We are unique among the Historic Northeast neighborhoods because we have a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. It is a quiet neighborhood bordering downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and is home to a diverse segment of the city's population.
Neighborhood meetings are the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm through Google Meet!

At the Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council, we empower residents to make a real impact in their community. Our work focuses on:
Giving Residents a Voice: We bring your concerns directly to local government, ensuring that neighborhood priorities are heard and addressed.
Addressing Key Community Issues: From managing trash and beautifying public spaces to tackling vacant or unsafe properties, we actively work to improve our streets and homes.
Advocating for Neighborhood Improvement: We partner with local organizations and city agencies to support programs, policies, and projects that make Independence Plaza safer, stronger, and more vibrant.
Enhancing Quality of Life: Through events, initiatives, and ongoing support, we help build a connected, thriving neighborhood where everyone can feel proud to live.
Join us in shaping a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant Independence Plaza—your voice matters!
